Thailand’s Bangkok is renowned as one hotspot for shopping. To see if the statement is true and of course also to satisfy some much awaited shopping needs, my friends an I headed to Thailand in June’19 for a very short trip. However, starting off with street food from a local market and quenching our thirsts often turned out to be our priorities somehow. We visited few malls which were on our list and still everything seemed very typical and we did not feel the shopping urge as expected. I was in dilemma about the whole shopping statement. The following day, we headed to the Chatuchak Market. Now apart from the typical malls, this did feel something like Thai and that is why I though I’d choose to write about it. This market was spread along a huge area and you cannot complete the visit in a single day. The shops were all adjacent and looked sort of congested but it was a lovely sight with the bright colors and specially the aromas that spread throughout. We were truly amazed by the piles and piles of goods the shops had. Books, toys, shoes, clothes, accessories, instruments, bags, food, arts & crafts, furniture, plants, pets, you name it!

We were actually thinking what does this market not sell and we did not know from where to start to buy and what to! We felt like we’ve been trapped in a shopping maze where we needed to shop and also had to curb at the same time! All that was ever playing in my mind was “you’re physically walking through eBay, you’re physically walking through eBay”. After this visit here, I had to agree to the so called shopping statement BUT with the purview that it is actually a great place for shopping only for traders who would buy on large scale for commercial purpose. Of course we did buy certain goods through the stroll (which we couldn’t complete) and concluded that place is ideal for traders to buy on bulk. It was a wonderful experience to feel tiny inside a long spread market, walking through while enjoying the aroma and eye candy around. Oh! And we surely did enjoy the best ever, softest dried mangoes from here!!! A must visit!
